This was a volunteer role for the Sawtry Youth Project, a local charitable organisation aimed at improving sport and leisure amenities for young people in Sawtry, Cambridgeshire. Our main goal was to secure the funds and permission to build a skatepark. My responsibilities for the charity included attending and taking minutes at meetings to shape the future of the Project, attending local government meetings and committees, managing the Project’s social media channels and website as well as engaging with the community both online and at our fundraising events. Over the nearly 8 years the project was active, we successfully lobbied the Parish Council for permission to build the skatepark, fundraised £20,000, and secured grants to fund the project.
